摘要:Preparation and use of tetra-C-alkyl cobalt dicarbollide for extraction of cesium and strontium into hydrocarbon solvents. Tetra-C-alkyl derivatives of cobalt dicarbollide, Co(C 2 R 2 B 9 H 9 ) 2 - (CoB 2 R 4 - ; R=CH 3 and C 6 H 13 ) are demonstrated to be significant cesium and strontium extractants from acidic and alkaline solutions into non-toxic organic solvent systems. Extractions using mesitylene and diethylbenzene are compared to those with nitrobenzene as the organic phase. CoB 2 -hexyl 4 - in diethylbenzene shows improved selectivity (10 4 ) for Cs over Na in acidic solution. In dilute alkaline solution, CoB 2 -hexyl 4 - extracts Cs less efficiently, but more effectively removes Sr from higher base concentrations. A general synthesis of tetra-C-alkyl cobalt dicarbollides is described.

摘要:Provided are synthetic dendrimer calibrants for mass spectrometry. The calibrants are distinguished by their relative case and rapidity of synthesis, comparatively low cost, long shelf life, high purity, and amenability to batch synthesis as mixtures. The latter characteristic enables parallel preparation of higher molecular weight compounds displaying useful distributions of discrete molecular weights, thereby providing multi-point mass spectrometry calibration standards. Methods of making, tuning and using said calibrants are provided.

摘要:The invention relates to a new type of highly polar, at least double-negatively charged redox-active benzoquinones, notably derived from Coenzyme Q0, Q1 and dimethoxy benzoquinones, its production and use. The production of these benzoquinones comprises the reaction of dimethoxy benzoquinones with highly alkaline aqueous solutions. The benzoquinones of the invention have various potential applications in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry (namely as antioxidants, anti-ageing agents and the like), in organic synthesis, metal complexations, metal separations, potentiometric titrations, interfacial catalysis, and ion-transfer reactions across biological membranes.
