The rods are oligomers of the formula A 1 (A b+1 ) b , wherein b is at least 1, A 1 through A b+1 are covalently coupled rod segments, and each rod segment A 1 through A 1+b comprises a compound of the formula X 1 (X m+1 ) m wherein m is at least 1 and X 1 through X m+1 are covalently coupled porphyrinic macrocycles. Light harvesting arrays and solar cells containing such light harvesting rods are also described, along with intermediates useful in such methods and rods produced by such methods.

摘要:A half-sandwich coordination complex, useful for the synthesis of triple-decker sandwich coordination compounds, is produced by reacting a precursor complex of the formula XM(R 1 ) 2 wherein X is a halogen, M is a metal, and R 1 is an amide, with a free base porphyrinic macrocycle to produce said half-sandwich complex. The half-sandwich coordination complex can be used to make a triple-decker sandwich coordination compound by reacting a half-sandwich coordination complex as described above with a double-decker sandwich coordination compound.

摘要:The present invention provides a process for producing a nanocomposite particle (“nanoSCINT particleâ€?) adapted for use in scintillating proximity assay in a relatively high quantity. The nanoSCINT particle comprises a silica shell that encapsulates a nanoparticle organic polymer that is doped with at least one scintillating compound. In particular, the process of the invention includes adding a plurality of batch-wise portions of a polymerization initiator to an emulsion comprising a relatively high amount of polymerizable organic compound to produce a nanoparticle organic polymer, which is then doped with at least one scintillating compound, and then encapsulated with a silica shell to produce nanoSCINT particles in gram quantities in a single process. Unlike conventional methods, a single process of the invention provides at least about 5 g, typically at least about 7.5 g, and often at least about 10 g of nanocomposite particles.
