摘要:A method is provided for the direct synthesis by living cationic polymerization of novel polymeric materials functionalized with desirable nitrogen-containing functional groups such as terminal azido, cyano, carbonylamino, cyanato, thiocyanato or thiocarbonylamino groups. Polymerization and functionalization occur in a substantially simultaneous manner. All necessary reactants for the functionalization are present when polymerization is initiated. The nitrogen-containing functional group is provided as a part of a molecule having a release moiety which is preferably resonance stabilized or a tertiary alkyl type and which acts to aid the nitrogen-containing species in functioning as a leaving group.

摘要:Provided are functionalized silicon compounds and methods for their synthesis and use. The functionalized silicon compounds include at least one activated silicon group and at least one derivatizable functional group. Exemplary derivatizable functional groups include hydroxyl, amino, carboxyl and thiol, as well as modified forms thereof, such as activated or protected forms. The functionalized silicon compounds may be covalently attached to surfaces to form functionalized surfaces which may be used in a wide range of different applications. In one embodiment, the silicon compounds are attached to the surface of a substrate comprising silica, such as a glass substrate, to provide a functionalized surface on the substrate, to which molecules, including polypeptides and nucleic acids, may be attached. In one embodiment, after covalent attachment of a functionalized silicon compound to the surface of a solid silica substrate to form a functionalized coating on the substrate, an array of nucleic acids may be covalently attached to the substrate. Thus, the method permits the formation of high density arrays of nucleic acids immobilized on a substrate, which may be used, for example, in conducting high volume nucleic acid hybridization assays.

摘要:The invention provides new synergistine derivatives of the formula: (I) in which Y=H or N(CH3)2 and R represents: (a) H or OH, (b) a radical of the formula NR1R2, in which R1 and R2=H, phenyl or pyridyl (optionally substituted by dialkylamino (1 to 4 C), alkyl (1 to 10 C) [optionally substituted by OH, SH, COOH, anilino, or alkylamino or dialkylamino of which at least one of the alkyl parts is substituted by OH, SH, COOH or anilino 9 , alkenyl (3 or 4 C) or alkynyl (3 or 4 C), or alternatively R1 and R2 together form a heterocycle optionally containing another heteroatom such as O, S or N (optionally substituted by alkyl), or (c) a halogen atom, a trimethylsilyloxy or dialkylphosphoryloxy radical or a radical -OSO2R3 or -OCOR4, R3 being alkyl, trifluoromethyl, trichloromethyl or optionally substituted phenyl and R4 being defined in the same way as R3 or being an acylalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl or alkoxy radical, and also their salts and their preparation. These products are useful as intermediates in the synthesis of anti-bacterial synergistine derivatives.

摘要:Described are polyphosphazenes which may be represented by the general formula ##STR1## in which R is a hydroxy-substituted or protected hydroxy-substituted saturated aliphatic group, R' is a hydrocarbyl group, R' is a residue of an alpha amino acid, n is from about 50 to about 25,000, and x is a number averaging from 0.05 to 1.00 per repeating unit and y is a number averaging from 0.95 to 0.00 per repeating unit so that per repeating unit the sum of x and y is 1. Removal of the protecting group in the R moiety renders the polymers water soluble. The polymers have a controllable set of properties including degree of hydrolytic stability, permeability, hydrophilicity, and bioacceptability. They may be used in the production of hydrogels for drug release systems, plasma extenders, and biomedical implants.
