For example, one or more embodiments described herein can comprise a method, which can include cyclizing a functionalized diol monomer with N,N′-carbonyldiimidazole, wherein the cyclizing produces a cyclic carbonate monomer and an imidazole carbamate. The method can also include activating the imidazole carbamate with an acid, wherein the activating promotes cyclization of the imidazole carbamate into the cyclic carbonate monomer.

This compound (1) stimulates collagen synthesis in human dermal fibroblasts and consequently smooths or removes wrinkles caused by aging and/or photoaging.

The bisglycidyl ethers are useful as substitutes for bisphenol A in the manufacture of thermoset epoxy ethers. Anhydrosugar ethers are derived from renewable sources and are not xenoestrogenic. Higher alkyl and aralkyl ethers are stable high-boiling oils that are good plasticizers for materials such as PVC.
