摘要:Oily hyperbranched polymers derived from ethylene, propylene, butene and/or a C 5 -C 24 α-olefin, and a method for their synthesis, are disclosed. The polymers have non-regular microstructures and are characterized by a ratio ()of methyl hydrogens centered around 0.85 ppm on the 1H-NMR spectra of the polymers relative to total aliphatic hydrogens of from about 0.40 to about 0.65 for polymers derived from ethylene or butene, and a ratio ()of from greater than 0.50 to about 0.65 for polymers derived from propylene. A method for grafting hyperbranched polymers derived from ethylene, propylene, butene and/or a C 5 -C 24 α-olefin onto aromatic rings in organic molecules and polymers, and the resulting grafted materials, are also disclosed. The hyperbranched polymers and grafted materials are useful, for example, as lubricants and lubricant additives.

摘要:The invention relates to a method for the production of polyalkylene polyamines by homogeneously catalyzed alcohol amination, wherein aliphatic alkanolamines are reacted with each other or aliphatic diamines or polyamines are reacted with aliphatic diols or polyols in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst while eliminating water and in the presence of hydrogen gas. The invention further relates to polyalkylene polyamines, which can be obtained by said methods, and to polyalkylene polyamines which contain hydroxyl groups, secondary amines or tertiary amines. The invention finally relates to uses of said polyalkylene polyamines as adhesion promoters in inks, adhesion promoters in composite films, cohesion promoters in adhesives, cross-linkers/hardeners for resins, primers for paints, wet adhesion promoters for dispersion paints, complexing agents and flocculants, penetration auxiliaries for use in wood preservation, corrosion inhibitors, and immobilization agents of proteins and enzymes.

摘要:Provided is a process for the preparation of certain 1,4-bicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives. The new synthetic procedure involves treating 1,4-dimethylene cyclohexane with an oxidizing agent in the presence of a transition metal catalyst to afford an oxo-substituted bicyclo[2.2.2]octane species. This intermediate structure can then be further derivatized. The processes of this disclosure thus affords a novel and simplified means for the commercial production of a wide variety of bicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives.

摘要:A catalyst has been found for the low pressure hydroformylation of alcohols to produce aldehydes. This catalyst consists of a rhodium containing compound, an iodide containing compound, and a chelating Group V compound, which is used alone or in combination with a monodentate, Group V compound. n It is the first rhodium-based catalyst that generates acetaldehyde via hydroformylation of the methanol. The reaction is typically carried out at 160°-180° C. and 1000-2000 psi. The acetaldehyde rate and selectivity are 1-5 Mhr -1 and 50-75%. Conventional cobalt catalysts require operating pressures of at least 3000-6000 psi in order to obtain reasonable productivities.
