摘要:The invention concerns the preparation of explosion-proof trimethine salts which are only slightly soluble in water and have the formula (I), in which: R is an aryl or a heteroaryl group, which may contain one or more substituents, and X is an anion-equivalent of a non-oxidizing acid group which is inert with respect to trimethine cation and forms trimethine salts which are only slightly soluble in water, by formylation of compounds of the formula (II): R-CH2?-COOH, in which: R has the same meaning as in formula (I), under the conditions of the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, followed by aqueous hydrolysis of the formylation products to form water-soluble primary trimethine salts, and reaction of the water-soluble primary trimethine salts in the aqueous reaction mixture with acids of the formula (III): (H)n?X, in which: X has the same meaning as in formula (I) and n is a number from 1 to 3, or with water-soluble salts of such acids, in at least stoichometric proportions, and separation of the resulting trimethine salts of formula (I) which are only slightly soluble in water. Trimethine salts of formula (I) can be used as intermediates in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, particularly pyrimidines and pyridines.
