摘要:Citraconic anhydride can be prepared in high yield by reacting with an excess of formaldehyde at least one compound selected from the group consisting of succinic anhydride, and di-lower alkyl esters of succinic acid, in the vapor phase at a temperature of about 280-410*C. in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of thorium sulfate, potassium diacid phosphate, or lithium carbonate on an alundum support, or lithium phosphate. Itaconic acid is conveniently prepared by hydrolyzing the citraconic anhydride to citranconic acid, and then isomerizing the acid to yield itaconic acid.
