摘要:A process is incorporated herein for the synthesis of bio-1,2-alkanediols, comprising: providing a bio-alkene having a carbon chain of about 5 to about 20 carbon atoms and a bio-1-alkene regioselectivity of at least about 80%, at least about 92% and/or at least about 95%; and converting the bio-alkene to a bio-1,2-alkanediol having a carbon chain length of about 5 to about 20 carbon atoms. Methods for treating catalysts which may be incorporated in the process for the synthesis of bio-1,2-alkanediols are also included herein. Such bio-1,2-alkanediols are used in compositions and products alone as antimicrobial materials, or with existing bio-compounds and/or antimicrobials, preservatives, alternative preservation systems and/or hurdle technology components. The bio-1,2-alkanediols incorporate a natural and bio-based pathway for antimicrobial effects in various compositions such as cosmetic, pharmaceutical, industrial and household products.

摘要:The present invention relates to compositions and methods for modulating hair growth or regrowth. The compositions of the present invention comprise extracts of one or more of the following: Boswellia serrata, Undaria pinnatifida, green tea (e.g., Camellia sinensis ), shiso, Pureraria mirifica, luteolin (e.g. Perilla ocymoides leaf extract), astilbin, vitamin E, amentoflavone, tetrahydropiperine, licochalcone, astaxanthin, red clover, Brassica juncea, unfermented green rooibos, enzyme CoQ10, salvia, ximenynic acid, hops oleoresin, apple, soy, saw palmetto, or ellagic extract, or any derivative thereof. In particular, the compositions and methods of the present invention can be used to stimulate or increase hair growth and/or prevent or slow the loss of hair by having one or more of the following functions: (a) inhibiting synthesis of DHT; (b) inhibiting proteasomal activity; (c) inhibiting IL-1 activity; (d) increasing vascularization; (e) increasing expression of vascular endothelial growth factor; (f) increasing expression of keratinocyte growth factor; (g) inhibiting inflammation; or (h) acting as an antibacterial.

摘要:The present invention relates to enhancement of anti-tubercular activity of active fraction isolated from Salicornia brachiata . The invention also discloses the non-toxic nature of the fraction and positively identifies Sucrose as its main constituent. Pure Sucrose is shown to have no anti-tubercular activity indicating thereby that activity of the fraction resides in one or more of the minor constituents. The minor constituents are shown to be relatively low molecular weight entities and a chromatographic technique is disclosed for separating them from the bulk sucrose to probe their activities and structures in detail, as also the possibility of their synthesis if the leads thrown up are novel.
