The synthesis of the coloured ink via an in-situ generation of the cationic dye offers many procedural advantages such the avoidance of isolation and purification steps for the dye. The printing inks obtained show for example high colour strength and excellent rheological properties and can be used in publication or packaging gravure flexographic, lithographic or letterpress printing processes.

Drying the starting components is especially suitable in the case of only slightly agglomerating, easy to wet pigments of specific surface area from 1 to 25 m 2 /g. The method gives excellent results, and is flexible and also much simpler than known methods.
