Properties: White, glistening, needle-like or prismatic crystals. d 3.14. Darkens slowly on exposure to light. One gram dissolves in 2 ml water. Insol in alc and most other organic solvents. A 1:20 aq soln is neutral or slightly alkaline to litmus. LD50 i.p. in mice: 110 mg/kg (Basinger).
